At 14, Robert Zildjian joined his father’s business, Zildjian Cymballs - continuing a family dynasty that can be traced back to 1623 .In 1981, after losing a legal dispute with his brother Armand over ownership of Zildjian Cymballs, Robert Zildjian formed Sabian in Meductic, NB.
